Datenschutzerklärung für Python Editor

Stand: 25. Oktober 2026

B. Betriebssystem) an jsDelivr bzw. dessen Netzbetreiber übertragen.

Privacy Policy for Python Editor

Last updated: October 25, 2026

This privacy policy applies to the app “Python Editor” for iPhone, iPad and Mac (the “App”). Your privacy matters: the App doesn't need an account, and the content of your programs, notebooks and projects is never sent to me – and only to others if you choose to use the AI assistant yourself (section 4).

2. Your files

Your files, notebooks and projects are stored only on your device, in the “On My iPhone/iPad › Python Editor” folder of the Files app, or stay in the folder you open from the Files app. With Python Editor Pro you can also sync them with iCloud Drive; Apple then stores them in your own iCloud account. I have no access to them. Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy.

Your code runs only on your device: Python runs with Pyodide, which is built into the App, as are the numpy and matplotlib packages. Your programs have no internet access, and the App never sends your code anywhere. The Markdown preview only shows images from the internet if your own text includes them; links only open in Safari when you tap them. The App only uses the clipboard when you explicitly copy.

The version history and your settings are also stored only on your device. Some settings (such as pinned iCloud files and the chosen design) are synced between your devices through your iCloud account. Widgets receive a list of your recent files (name and beginning of the text), which also stays on your device; while the app lock is on, no content is shared with widgets.

Face ID / Touch ID: The app lock uses the operating system's device authentication. The App only learns whether authentication succeeded – never any biometric data.

3. Python packages from the internet

If one of your programs imports a Python package that isn't built into the App (for example pandas), the App downloads it the first time from jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net), the network the Pyodide project publishes its packages through, checks its checksum and keeps it on your device; it isn't downloaded again after that. As with any download, your IP address, the name of the requested package file and technical details of your device (such as the operating system) are sent to jsDelivr and its network providers. Your code, your files or other data about you are not sent. jsDelivr is a public content delivery network (CDN) that delivers through several network providers; data may also be processed outside the EU. Privacy policy: jsdelivr.com/terms/privacy-policy. Without such imports, the App doesn't connect to jsDelivr.

4. AI assistant (optional)

With Python Editor Pro you can use an AI assistant – Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI) or Gemini (Google). It only works with your own API key from that provider, and only after you have explicitly agreed in the App. When you send the assistant a message, the App transmits directly from your device to the provider you chose: your message, the conversation so far, the names of the files in the project and the content of the files the assistant looks at. This happens encrypted (HTTPS) and only at your request. I don't receive this data.

The provider's processing is governed by its terms and privacy policy, which you accepted with your API account; requests are billed to your account there and may be stored by the provider for some time. The providers are based in, or also process data in, the United States: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google (Gemini API terms).

Your API key is stored in your device's keychain (and synced across your devices through your iCloud Keychain). Conversations are stored only on your device, per project or file, until you start a new one. Proposed changes are only written when you apply them. Without an API key and your consent, the App sends nothing to these providers.

5. Advertising (Google AdMob)

Without a subscription, the App is funded by ads, using the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. In particular, the following data may be processed: IP address, device and system information (such as device model, iOS version, language), approximate location (derived from the IP address), interactions with ads and – only with your permission – your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). The content of your files is never transmitted.

Consent: Users in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's User Messaging Platform before personalized ads are shown (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Without consent, only non-personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time in the App under Settings › Privacy Choices.

App Tracking Transparency: The advertising identifier (IDFA) is only used if you allow it in Apple's prompt. You can withdraw this permission at any time in the iOS Settings under Privacy & Security › Tracking.

Data may be transferred to countries outside the EU, in particular the United States. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. More information: policies.google.com/privacy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

With a Python Editor Pro subscription, no ads are shown and the advertising SDK isn't started. The Mac version never shows ads and doesn't include the advertising SDK.

6. Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. I don't receive payment details or any information that identifies you personally – the App only learns whether a subscription is active.

7. No other data

Apart from sections 3 to 5, the App doesn't use any analytics or tracking services, doesn't create user accounts and doesn't send any data to me. Uninstalling the App deletes all data stored on the device (downloaded packages included); files in iCloud Drive remain in your iCloud account.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. As I don't store any personal data myself, please also contact Google, Apple, jsDelivr or the AI provider you chose directly about data they process.

9. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13.

10. Changes

I update this privacy policy when the App or the law changes. The version published here applies.
